Week of the German-Uzbek Business Mission: New Horizons for the Textile Industry
Last week, the German-Uzbek business mission was launched, opening new opportunities for cooperation between the countries in the textile and garment industry. Uzbek companies specializing in the production of suits and knitwear arrived in Germany with the aim of exchanging experiences, establishing contacts, and finding new partners. The mission is supported by organizations such as Gesamtmasche, under the GUZ Partners program and GIZ Uzbekistan.
More than 15 local Uzbek manufacturers participated in this business mission. The goal of these companies was to establish strong connections with foreign partners, exchange knowledge and experience, and acquire advanced technologies in the textile sector. Uzbek firms aimed to explore the German market, understand consumer requirements and fashion trends, as well as identify opportunities to reach new levels of quality and sustainability for their products.
One of the distinguishing features of this business trip was the division of the Uzbek delegation into two groups, which allowed for more targeted collaboration with German companies relevant to the participants’ profiles. The first group, consisting of knitwear manufacturers, visited several German factories, the second group, focused on suit production, targeted other companies with a similar profile.
As a result of the meetings, there was an active exchange of information, contacts, and experiences. German companies expressed interest in placing orders for garments and fabrics. Some have already planned visits to Uzbekistan for further negotiations with Uzbek manufacturers.
As a continuation of this business mission, in May, eight German companies specializing in the production of workwear will come to Uzbekistan for additional negotiations.
The German-Uzbek business mission opened new horizons for both countries. Uzbek companies not only gained access to modern technologies and knowledge but also had the opportunity to present their products on the international stage. This collaboration could become the foundation for creating new jobs in Uzbekistan and enhancing the competitiveness of Uzbek manufacturers in the global market.
As part of the TOT program, which is supported by Gesamtmasche and GUZ Partners, a unique training initiative is being implemented that aims to pass on the knowledge learned by the trainers who are being trained to other textile experts in Uzbekistan, so that the learning content is multiplied in the Ponzi scheme.
On April 11, 2025, Stuttgart hosted the German-Uzbek Business Forum: Textile & Apparel, a key event for the textile industry. The forum convened representatives from Uzbek and German companies and experts in textiles and apparel to explore collaboration and knowledge sharing.
