On April 11, 2025, Stuttgart hosted the German-Uzbek Business Forum: Textile & Apparel, a key event for the textile industry. The forum convened representatives from Uzbek and German companies and experts in textiles and apparel to explore collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Organized with the support of GESAMTMASCHE e. V. within the GUZ Partners project, the event brought together leading industry figures, official delegations, and business delegates from both nations.
Ms. Silvia Jungbauer, General Director of GESAMTMASCHE e. V., officially opened the forum, emphasizing the importance of deepening bilateral ties and expanding partnerships in the textile and apparel sectors. In her welcoming remarks, she highlighted the mutual benefits of such initiatives and the significant potential for long-term collaboration.
Project Coordinator Alexa Bitzer introduced the Gesamtmasche project team in Uzbekistan and thanked the Uzbek textile companies for their productive business mission. Project Manager Malika Akramova then presented the goals, prospects, and achievements of the GUZ-partners project, which has been successfully operating in Uzbekistan for three years, generating significant audience interest and demonstrating its value.
Special appreciation was expressed to Mr. Dilshod Akhatov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Federal Republic of Germany, for his insightful speech, active participation, and valuable discussions that enriched the forum’s agenda. His contribution added significant value to the event and underscored the strong bilateral dialogue.
The forum featured pitches from Uzbek companies, showcasing manufacturers of men’s and women’s suits (Fazman, Ideal, Narimtex, and Mustang) and knitwear producers (SAMO, Jizzakh Toshtepa Tekstil, and Bunyodkor Textile). Video presentations enhanced the business forum with innovation and appeal.
Informative presentations highlighted the dynamic development of Uzbekistan’s textile and garment industry, covering advancements in vertical integration, sustainable development, export potential, and the readiness of Uzbek companies to enter the European market. Also opportunities for cooperation in knitwear, classic suits, and workwear were explored.
Presentations addressed the use of GSP+ and EU tariff preferences, logistics between Uzbekistan and Germany (Rhenus Logistics), social and environmental sustainability in the Uzbek textile industry, an ILO report on Uzbekistan (Yusuf Abu, Better Work), and the potential for industry development in Uzbekistan.
Professor Christian Kaiser (Albstadt-Sigmaringen University) discussed the importance of educational cooperation between Uzbekistan and Germany and the TOT program within GUZ Partners, in which the university actively participated.
Sven Eriskat (Infoaid) concluded the forum by discussing collaboration prospects between German and Uzbek textile companies in a challenging international market.
The forum ended with B2B sessions, enabling participants to establish direct business contacts, discuss joint projects, and lay the groundwork for technological exchange and mutually beneficial partnerships.
